William A. Doherty
William A. Doherty is associated with Barnes & Barnes, P.C. and concentrates on wills, trusts and estate planning, real estate and general litigation for the firm.
Immediately after Mr. Doherty earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hofstra University, he was appointed to the New York City Police Academy. Subsequent to graduation from the Academy, Mr. Doherty served in the 113th Precinct covering South Jamaica, South Ozone Park, St. Albans and Rosedale Village until July 2000. Thereafter, Mr. Doherty was appointed to the Floral Park Police Department in July 2000, where he currently serves as a police officer with the additional title of Sargent.
Mr. Doherty earned his Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in May 2007 while simultaneously working full-time for the Floral Park Police Department. He is licensed to practice law in the State of New York and is a member of the American, New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Chaminade High School Law Enforcement Alumni Association and the Chaminade High School Lawyers Alumni Association.
Mr. Doherty is the recipient of the 2005 Nassau County Municipal Chiefs Police Association Distinguished Service Award and the June 2005 Shield of Long Island Cop of the Month Award. Mr. Doherty is a member of the Floral Park Police Benevolent Association, Nassau Police Emerald Society, Nassau Police Conference, Fraternal Order of Police (Nassau, New York and National Lodges), Metropolitan Police Conference and the Police Conference of New York.
